Happy Ending!

“Owning a firearm is a huge responsibility. You need to take steps to secure the weapons and parents need to speak to their children about firearms and how dangerous they can be,” said Cairo police officers.

This was the ending to what could have been a terrible tragedy in Cairo Georgia today.

A nine year old boy took two handguns to Northside Elementary School today. A teacher found the guns when she noticed a young boy playing with a clip. When she approached him he said he was blowing on a harmonica. Luckily no one was injured and the boys did not intend to harm anyone when they took these weapons to school.

These are the kinds of things that should not be happing in our communities. The owner of these guns should not be able to own guns in the future. Luckily no one was injured or killed, but who is to say what happens the next time a irresponsbile gun owners fails to protect his weapons. Lets ban all privately owned guns now.

Seattle’s Gun Ban a Great First STep

It is great to see Seattle make a first step towards banning all hand guns in communities. If other communities would follow their lead in banning guns in public community spaces, it would start to set the precedence for other cities/communities to follow.

When will enough be enough.  When will all of the crazy NRA types learn that they are fighting a lost cause.  This is not about what is happening today at Fort Hood, just read the news everyday in your community.  Look at the deaths that did not, and should not have happened.

Lets gather now as honest, progressive Americans and spread the word that we will not stand for easy access to hand guns anymore.  If we would put the proper resources  into banning hand guns, registering the people who are caught with guns, and increasing our police resources we would end so many of the crimes that we all face in our neighorhood.
